Edmund Optics® Strengthens its Team in Europe

Dr. Boris Ecker to Expand Edmund Optics’ Technical Expertise in Imaging and Machine Vision Markets

5/4/2015, Mainz, Germany   —

Edmund Optics® (EO), one of the premier manufacturers of precision optical components, optical assemblies, and imaging components, strengthens its position in the European market with the addition of Dr. Boris Ecker. Supported by Edmund Optics’ global team of imaging experts, Dr. Ecker, Imaging Solutions Engineer, will directly service the growing Imaging and Machine Vision application needs of our European customers.

Fluent in German and English, Boris Ecker holds a Ph.D. in physics, obtained for his work on high-energy lasers and plasma physics at the University of Mainz, Germany and the “GSI Helmholtzzentrum für Schwerionenforschung” in Darmstadt, Germany. In the industrial environment, he has gained experience as an optical designer in process analytics, where he was responsible for creating optic designs, as well as for the application requirements of domestic and international customer projects.

At Edmund Optics Dr. Ecker will offer his support and expertise to customers and partners regarding technical questions and assist with the implementation of their projects. His main focus will be to consult and recommend the selection of the appropriate optics, to provide detailed product specifications, and to create application-specific Zemax simulations as well as to conduct feasibility studies and product testing.

In January 2015 Dr. Boris Ecker joined the Edmund Optics Imaging team, headed by Greg Hollows in the corporate headquarters in Barrington, New Jersey, in the US.
